The Passivhaus Institut (PHI) was founded in 1996, by Dr Wolfgang Feist, as an independent research institution. It employs physicists, mathematicians and civil, mechanical and environmental engineers, performing research and development on highly efficient energy use. The PHI developed the international, voluntary Passivhaus standard and leads research in the field today. It also provides support to manufacturers on development and optimisation of components, such as windows (frames, glazing) and MVHR units, suitable for passive construction. It is also the developer of the design and modelling tool, the Passivhaus Planning Package (Passivhaus Projektierungs Paket in German) or PHPP for short. |
